EL Civics Technology Plan Now Open for Submissions, Online Trainings Available

Posted on 08/31/2012

Tech Plan

The adult education technology plan is a requirement for California adult education agencies receiving Workforce Investment Act, Title II, funding for EL Civics, Civic Participation. Agencies complete a technology plan each year that can cover a program area, department, or the entire agency. The plans are reviewed and approved as a condition for funding.

Technology is expensive, and the goal is to make the most effective use of available funds. Planning is a tool for making decisions about what technology to buy, where to put it, how to use it, how to maintain it, and how to teach others to use it. Planning increases awareness of particular needs, such as the need to budget for technical support and replacement cost once equipment has been purchased. The act of planning also raises awareness of possible solutions.

Eligible agencies can now logon to http://adulted.otan.us to access the EL Civics Technology Plan.

The deadline for receiving online submission of the new or revised Technology Plan is midnight, January 31, 2013.

Online Trainings this year will be offered to meet the needs of two distinct groups.

The recordings of both sessions will be made available on the Tech Plan pages.
