The Association of California School Administrators (ACSA ) has announced that Vickie Good, Principal of Fairfield-Suisun Adult School in Solano County, has been chosen as their 2009 Adult Education Administrator of the Year.

Good credits her successes to working closely with her staff as a team and building relationships between all stakeholders. She offers:  “I am blessed with this incredible, committed staff that are taking the lead in school-wide improvements… It is amazing what happens when you provide opportunities, give support and get out of the way! It’s such fun to watch it all in action!”

She adds:  “By creating opportunities that meet their needs, it gives students hope…Our success with adult students impacts not only the student but also their families and the community at large by way of employers who hire our students, as well as by improving the vitality of students’ lives.”

Good has been in the Fairfield-Suisun district since 1984, having worked as a job developer, teacher, career counselor, special project coordinator and assistant principal. Good is an example of an administrator who responds to the changing needs of the student population and the daily realities of managing resources.  Her personal philosophy for how she leads her school is quite simple: Respect everyone and have passion for what you do.
