State Board Removes Fingerprinting Requirement for CBET Tutors

Posted on 05/21/2008

The State Board of Education recently approved CBET regulations without any fingerprinting requirement. Initially the regulations included the requirement that any CBET tutor would have to be fingerprinted. Since most CBET students are parents tutoring their own children, there was concern that this would put an undue burden and cost on the program. Programs may choose to pay for fingerprinting with CBET funds if they wish, but it will not be a requirement and will be at the discretion of the school or district.

CBET applications are due May 30, and applicants must have a district CBET plan on file and available for review.
