Important CTE
Survey

The Commission on Teacher Credentialing is gathering feedback on proposed credential requirements for Career Technical Education Teachers (CTE). An advisory panel recommended new credential requirements and drafted new program standards for the preparation of CTE teachers. Teachers and administrators familiar with Career Technical Education should complete the survey by Friday, April 25.

CASAS National Summer Institute
The keynote speaker at this year’s CASAS National Summer Institute (June 17-19) is Ken Kay, president of the Partnership for 21st Century Skills. The Partnership is a leading advocacy organization focused on infusing 21st century skills into education.

Ken Kay has been a major voice in defining the potential and promoting the importance of information technology applications in critical areas such as education, health care, electronic commerce and government services. COABE Administrator of the Year

COABE Names Joan Polster ABE Administrator of the Year
At the COABE conference in St. Louis, MO, April 28-30, Joan Polster will receive the ABE Administrator of the Year from the Commission on Adult Basic Education.

Danish administrators study California techology and distance education

California will host a study group of 11 visiting Danish adult education administrators for two days during April. The visitors are especially interested in learning how California adult schools use technology for distance education and professional development. The online application for the Technology Integration Mentor Academy (TIMAC) is open now through May 16, 2008. In 2008-09, ten new participants will be selected and will participate for one school year.

CASAS eTest Online Workshops…

…are available in April and May. Anyone interested in joining a CASAS eTests User Group should contact Carol Farrell. The first CASAS eTests User Group meeting is scheduled Thursday, June 19 at the CASAS National Summer Institute. Earlier teleconferences may be scheduled if response warrants.
